Accounts

Researchers are to interact with the Neocortex (preferred) and/or the Bridges-2 systems. In the latter, they would find the resources to precompile their code and estimate requirements that would facilitate the Neocortex execution (see section Reference Compilation for the CS-2 Commands). Bridges-2 resources can also be leveraged for data preprocessing and other parts of the processing workflow. Next, users can find information needed to manage their accounts.

Account creation

  • All our users need a PSC account. PSC account creation is an automatic processs for all the accepted NAIRR and ACCESS project PI and team members. If not, the account creation is a two-step process:

    • If you are active on Bridges-2 or other PSC systems, share your username information via email (neocortex@psc.edu); if not, please create an account using the "Request a PSC Account" form
    • Once the account is created, please make sure that you can reach Neocortex with your PSC credentials.

ssh PSC_USERNAME@neocortex.psc.edu

Info

If you need to reset your password, please visit the PSC Password Change Utility webpage.

Note

Please complete the "Getting ready to use the Neocortex system" training and submit the "Key Compilation Metrics Needed" form to get access to the full Neocortex allocation SU (Superdome Flex and CS-2s systems).

Adding new team members to an existing project

  • NAIRR Projects:

    • To add a user, log in to the NAIRR portal with your ORCID credentials.
    • Select “Add User Forms” from the menu and complete the form as the awardee. Once the form is submitted, a ticket will be created automatically. The user being added will also need to complete a User Attestation form through the same portal to confirm eligibility.
    • Once the user account is ready, the PI or an allocations manager needs to go to the portal and specify which resources the user is permitted to access. The PI and the user will be notified that the account is ready through an email from grants@psc.edu, confirming that the user has been added to the allocation and is now eligible to access the allocated resources.

  • ACCESS Projects:

    • To add a user to your ACCESS allocation, log in to the ACCESS Allocations Portal and navigate to your project’s management page.
    • Under the “Users + Roles” tab, you can add a user by entering their ACCESS ID. Make sure the new user has an ACCESS account before adding them, as they’ll need it to access the resources you’ve allocated.
    • Once the user account is ready, the PI or an allocations manager must go to the portal and indicate which specific resources the user is allowed to access. The PI/user will be notified that the account is ready through an email confirmation from the ACCESS system, confirming that they have been added to the allocation and are permitted to access designated resources.

Off-boarding Team Members

When a researcher is no longer part of a project and their access needs to be revoked, please follow the steps outlined below as soon as possible:

  • NAIRR Projects:

    • Submit a request through the NAIRR ticketing system for user removal. When creating the ticket, select “User Management” from the dropdown menu under “NAIRR Researcher Support Issue”.
    • In the ticket description, specify the user you wish to remove and any additional relevant details. Adjustments to user lists must be coordinated with the resource providers and may require approval depending on the allocation agreement.
    • (Link to answer: https://nairrpilot.org/help/faq)
  • ACCESS Projects:

    • log in to the ACCESS Allocations Portal with your credentials. Once logged in, navigate to the “My Allocations” or “Projects” section, and select the project you want to manage. This will open the project’s management page. From there, locate the user list and revoke access by removing their ACCESS ID from the associated resources.
